1 g of gel contains active substances: 50 mg dry extract of Aesculus hippocastanum L., cortex, (chestnut bark) (40-90:1), extraction solvent: methanol 90% (v/v); 5 mg lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate (Lidocaini hydrochloridum monohydratum).
The medicinal product AESCULAN® GEL is traditionally used in adults for hemorrhoidal disease. The medicinal product AESCULAN® GEL is a rectal gel used in relieving the symptoms of hemorrhoidal disease occurring in the first phase of the disease, characterized by the presence of low intensity pain and pruritus. The efficacy of the medicinal product in the mentioned indications is based solely on a long period of medicinal use and experience. It is assumed that the medicinal product will exhibit local anesthetic, astringent, mild anti-inflammatory effects.
Children and adolescents: the safety of the medicinal product AESCULAN® GEL in children and adolescents has not been determined. The medicinal product should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Adults: unless otherwise instructed by the doctor, use the enclosed cannula to apply the gel to the affected area or push it into the rectum about 0.5 – 1.0 g (a strip of ointment about 2 cm long), 2 – 3 times a day, until acute symptoms subside. Then the dose can be reduced by applying the ointment once a day. The medicinal product should be used until the symptoms subside. If there is no improvement after 7 days of use of the medicinal product, or if there is an exacerbation of the complaints associated with hemorrhoidal disease, contact your doctor.
Method of administration: Rectal administration. Wash your hands after each use of the product.
AESCULAN® GEL should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients. The product should also not be used in individuals allergic to amide local anesthetics and/or if hypersensitivity to plants of the Asteraceae (formerly Compositae) family, e.g. chamomile, has been identified.
