Aesculan® is used to relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoidal disease in the first stage of the condition, which is characterized by mild pain and itching. Aesculan® relieves the symptoms of hemorrhoids. When applied topically, Aesculan® ointment has anesthetic, astringent, and anti-inflammatory effects.
1 g of ointment contains the following active ingredients:
Excipients with known effects: bronopol, lanolin.
Aesculan® is used to relieve the symptoms of hemorrhoids.
Dosage
Adults: Unless otherwise directed by a doctor, apply the ointment to the affected area using the included cannula or insert approximately 0.5–1.0 g (a strip of ointment about 2 cm long) into the rectum, 2–3 times a day until acute symptoms subside. The dose may then be reduced to once daily. Continue using the ointment until symptoms subside.
If there is no improvement after 7 days of using the product, or if symptoms related to hemorrhoids worsen, contact your doctor.
Method of Administration
Rectal administration.
Wash your hands after each use of the product.
The safety of this product in children and adolescents has not been established. Use of this product in individuals under 18 years of age requires prior consultation with a doctor.
Do not use Aesculan® if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients.
Aesculan® is available in a tube containing 30 g of ointment.

Aesculan rectal ointment should be applied 2–3 times a day using the included cannula. The ointment can be applied directly to the affected area or inserted into the rectum in an amount of approximately 0.5–1 g, which corresponds to a strip of ointment about 2 cm long. Treatment should continue until symptoms such as pain or itching subside. Thereafter, the frequency of application may be reduced to once daily, continuing treatment until symptoms have completely resolved. Wash your hands after each application. Aesculan ointment should be used until the symptoms of hemorrhoids (pain, itching) subside. Initially, it is recommended to apply the medication 2–3 times a day; once acute symptoms have subsided, the frequency of application may be reduced to once daily. However, if there is no improvement after 7 days of use or if symptoms worsen, contact your doctor. Such a consultation is also recommended in cases of severe pain, heavy rectal bleeding, or the presence of blood in the stool, as these may require further diagnosis and a different treatment.
Aesculan rectal ointment is brown in color, which is due to the presence of horse chestnut bark extract in its formulation. It also contains ingredients with an oily consistency (white petroleum jelly, liquid paraffin, and lanolin). After application, a small amount of the ointment may leak from the anus and leave stains on underwear. To minimize the risk of staining, it is advisable to wait a few minutes after application before putting on clothes, and, if necessary, use a thin panty liner or a gauze pad to protect your underwear.
Aesculan ointment is indicated for relieving the symptoms of early-stage hemorrhoids, when pain and itching are the predominant symptoms, and occasional traces of blood may also be present. In the event of severe rectal bleeding, blood in the stool, or severe pain, do not rely solely on topical treatment. In such situations, it is recommended to contact a doctor immediately, as these symptoms may require a more thorough diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
