Sylimarol® Plus

Sylimarol Plus is a medication used as an adjunctive treatment for liver dysfunction. It is important to note that this is a product with a long history of use, and its effectiveness for the indicated conditions is based solely on long-term use and experience.

The medicinal product Sylimarol plus contains a silymarin-phospholipid complex, which is a combination of silymarin (a mixture of flavonolignans derived from milk thistle) and phospholipids (compounds that make up cell membranes). Phospholipids act as a “carrier” for silymarin, allowing it to be better absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract than in traditional preparations containing only milk thistle extract. It is this unique composition that constitutes the most important difference between Sylimarol Plus and the classic products in the Sylimarol line. Traditional medicinal preparations, such as Sylimarol 35 mg or Sylimarol 70 mg, Sylimarol Vita, contain only dry extract from milk thistle fruit standardized for silymarin content, but they do not contain phospholipids. Sylimarol Plus uses a more advanced formulation technology designed to improve the bioavailability of silymarin.

Adults should take 1 tablet 3 times a day for chronic conditions or 2 tablets 3 times a day for acute conditions. The dosage may be adjusted if your doctor recommends otherwise. Take this medication after meals. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Like any medication, Sylimarol Plus may cause side effects, although not every patient will experience them. To date, no side effects specific to Sylimarol Plus have been reported; however, gastrointestinal disturbances may occur during its use, and, occasionally, a mild laxative effect may also occur.
