Alax® is a herbal medicinal product intended for short-term use in cases of occasional constipation. The anthraquinones contained in the product have a laxative effect. The product is intended for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

One coated tablet contains 99.4 mg of lactose, 176.8 mg of sucrose, and 0.011 mg of cochineal red (E124).

The maximum daily dose of hydroxyanthracene glycosides (anthracene derivatives) is 30 mg. A dose of 20–30 mg corresponds to 2 coated tablets of the medicinal product.
The appropriate single dose is the smallest dose that produces a soft stool without the need for straining.
Dosage
Youth over 12 years of age and adults
Take 1–2 coated tablets with a glass of water.
Take this medication once daily, in the evening.
Children under 12 years of age
Use in children under 12 years of age is contraindicated (see Section 4.3).
Method of Administration
Oral administration. The laxative effect occurs 8 to 12 hours after administration.
Duration of use
Do not use for more than 1 week. Use of this medicinal product for longer than 1–2 weeks requires medical supervision. It is usually sufficient to use this medicinal product two to three times a week.
If your symptoms persist while using this medication, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients.
Cases of intestinal obstruction and intestinal stricture, intestinal atony, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel diseases (e.g., Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), abdominal pain of unknown origin, severe dehydration.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Children under 12 years of age.

Alax tablets typically produce a laxative effect 8–12 hours after ingestion. For this reason, it is recommended to take the medication in the evening so that a bowel movement occurs the next morning. However, it is important to remember that the time it takes for the medication to work may vary slightly depending on individual bowel function and the cause of constipation.
Alax tablets should be used only for the short-term treatment of occasional constipationin adults and adolescents over 12 years of age, in accordance with the following recommendations:
If constipation persists despite taking the medication or recurs frequently, consult your doctor or pharmacist to determine the cause.
If you do not experience a laxative effect after taking Alax, do not increase the dose beyond the recommended amount on your own. The maximum daily dose is 2 tablets. If constipation persists while taking this medication, contact your doctor or pharmacist, as it may be necessary to determine the cause of the problem and implement a different course of treatment.
Alax is not intended for long-term use. The medication should be used for a short period of time, for a maximum of 7 days, without consulting a doctor. Longer use is possible only upon the express recommendation of a doctor. Conversely, chronic use of stimulant laxatives, which include Alax tablets, can disrupt normal bowel function, lead to dependence on laxatives, and cause disturbances in water and electrolyte balance.
Do not use Alax tablets for weight loss. Alax is a medication intended solely for the short-term treatment of occasional constipation and is not indicated for weight loss. Doing so may lead to loss of water and electrolytes, dehydration, and increase the risk of side effects associated with long-term use of laxatives.
