Active substance
1 g of the ointment contains active substances: dry extract of horse-chestnut bark (Aesculus hippocastanum L., cortex (40-90:1), extracting solvent: methanol 90 % (v/v)) – 62.5 mg; lidocaine hydrochloride (Lidocaini hydrochloridum) – 5 mg.

Dosage and administration
Intrarectal administration. Adults: if not recommended otherwise by a doctor, use the enclosed cannula to apply the ointment on the affected area or squeeze around 0.5 to 1.0 g (a strip approx. 2 cm in length) into the rectum 2 or 3 times a day until acute symptoms subside. Then the dose can be reduced with the ointment administered one time a day. Use the preparation until the symptoms subside. Contact your doctor when no improvement is seen after 7 days of using this formulation or when symptoms related to haemorrhoid disease aggravate.
Contraindications
Do not use the Aesculan preparation if there is hypersensitivity to the medicinal substances or the adjuvants, allergy to amide-based topical anaesthetics and/or Asteraceae family plants.
