Sylimarol Vita 150 is a traditional herbal medicinal product whose active ingredient is milk thistle fruit extract (a source of silymarin), enriched with B vitamins. The product is used as an adjunct:

  • during recovery from toxic-metabolic liver damage caused, among other things, by alcohol or exposure to toxic substances (e.g., pesticides),
  • for dyspeptic symptoms, such as bloating and belching after eating heavy meals,
  • after acute and chronic liver diseases, as part of supportive treatment.

The indications for use of Sylimarol Vita 150 are based on many years of experience with this product.

Sylimarol Vita 150 is a medicine—more specifically, a traditional herbal medicinal product—and not a dietary supplement. This means that it has been registered as a medicinal product, and its quality, safety, and indications for use are subject to the requirements applicable to medicines. This medication is available over the counter at pharmacies; a prescription is not required to purchase it.

The manufacturer does not recommend a separate dosage for older adults. Seniors may take Sylimarol Vita 150 according to the same regimen as other adults, i.e. , 1 capsule twice daily, after meals, for approximately 2–4 weeks, unless otherwise directed by a doctor. However, older adults should pay special attention to following basic guidelines for taking medications, including not exceeding the recommended doses and informing their pharmacist or doctor about any existing medical conditions and all medications they are taking.

To date, no interactions between Sylimarol Vita 150 and other medications have been identified. Nevertheless, individuals taking multiple medications on a long-term basis should inform their doctor or pharmacist about all the products they are using, including dietary supplements and herbal products. This can help avoid, for example, unnecessary duplication of active ingredients used simultaneously in different products.
