The History of Herbapol Poznań

Pharmacist Roman Barcikowski opens a drugstore in Poznań on what is now Paderewskiego Street (formerly ). The business grows rapidly. More drugstores are opened, followed by wholesale operations for pharmacy and drugstore products.
The company is relocating to a newly purchased plot of land between what are now Towarowa and Składowa Streets.
The company is reorganized into a joint-stock company named “R. Barcikowski.” A chemical and pharmaceutical production division is added to the wholesale business.
“R. Barcikowski” becomes the leading pharmaceutical company in Greater Poland and one of the ten largest in the country. The export of herbs expands. Since 1932, the company’s products have been sold under the ERBE brand.
Until 1950, the company operated as a private enterprise, and its revenue gradually increased—by as much as two and a half times between 1946 and 1949.
The company’s first two products—which are among its best-known today— —make their debut: Tussipect cough syrup and Alax constipation relief tablets .
The Poznań Herbal Products Plant “Herbapol” is established. In the following years , products such as Neo-Capsiderm, Urosept, Poldanen, Arcalen, Mucosit, Rutoven, and Sylimarol are introduced.
PZZ Herbapol is taking on its current form as an employee-owned joint-stock company.
The company is celebrating its 150th anniversary.

He has been involved in the pharmaceutical industry for 24 years. He holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Poznań University of Economics, degrees from the Poznań University of Technology in the departments of Mechanics and Machine Design and Construction, and Work Machines and Transportation, as well as a certificate in Effective Project Management from the EY Academy of Business.

He began his professional career at Herbapol Poznań in 1999, progressing through various roles, from Production Worker to Maintenance Mechanic, Mechanical Specialist, and Manager of the Mechanical and Maintenance Department. His high qualifications, dedication, passion, and excellent knowledge of the company led him to become Chief Mechanic and, subsequently, Technical Director. He worked directly with the management teams of Herbapol Poznań during the most critical stages of the company’s development and also served as a member of the Supervisory Board for one and a half terms. Between 2016 and 2020, he was twice elected as a Member of the Management Board of PZZ Herbapol S.A. While serving on the Management Board, he was responsible for investment processes, the restructuring and optimization of subordinate regional branches and departments, the establishment of the IT department, and the implementation of project management methodologies; he also helped establish the Capital Group.

Since 2022, he has served as President and CEO of Poznańskie Zakłady Zielarskie Herbapol S.A.

He focuses on the effective implementation of the company’s strategy for 2023–2026, which will ensure the long-term growth and development of a modern enterprise.

He pays particular attention to the work-life balance (WLB) initiative being implemented, recognizing the positive effects it can have on Herbapol and its employees, as well as the importance of ESG within the WLB framework.

In line with Peter Drucker’s statement that “Organizational culture eats strategy for breakfast,” he believes that organizational culture is one of the elements that is often underestimated during the implementation of change. The right culture can help a company attract and retain top talent, motivate employees to perform at their best, and encourage collaboration, innovation, and creativity.

In life, he strives to make his dreams come true. He is passionate about music, plays the guitar, and also collects guitars. He most enjoys relaxing surrounded by nature, his family, and his most loyal friends—his dogs, Bazyl and Leo. He bases his relationships with people primarily on trust.

She has been involved in the pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years. She is a graduate of the Poznań University of Economics, where she majored in Commodity Science and Quality Management.

She began her professional career in 2006 as a Packaging Technologist. In the years that followed, she gained experience in the areas of technology, quality, and production, progressing through all levels of operational management. She held positions related to quality assurance, production change management, technology, and production, consistently developing her managerial and leadership skills.

She has been with Herbapol Poznań since the beginning of her professional career. Since 2021, she has served as Production Director, overseeing the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements, and cosmetics. In 2022, she was appointed to the Company’s Management Board, while continuing to oversee the production division.

In his work, he focuses on ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in production processes. He pays particular attention to organizational development, the improvement of technological, production, and logistics processes, and building engaged and responsible teams.

He believes that the company's long-term success is based on the competencies of its people, mutual trust, and the consistent pursuit of shared goals.

In her personal life, she is passionate about travel, connecting with nature, and hiking in the mountains—activities she most enjoys doing with her family. She values honesty, authenticity, and the courage to act in accordance with her own values.

He joined Herbapol Poznań in 2013 as a Sales Analyst. From the start of his professional career, he has been part of the Sales Department, and after assuming the position of Manager in 2019, he oversaw the strategy and implementation of sales plans. Subsequently, as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, he oversaw the proper and efficient operation of the company, and in 2022 he assumed the position of Member of the Management Board of PZZ Herbapol S.A.

He is a graduate of the Poznań University of Economics, where he majored in Computer Science and Econometrics, as well as Finance and Accounting.

Its goal is to improve the profitability of the Herbapol Poznań Capital Group’s product portfolio and, over the next few years, to introduce new medications that will enhance the comfort of patients taking them, expand Herbapol Poznań’s product portfolio in key therapeutic areas, and, together with the company’s other products, contribute to improving patients’ well-being and quality of life.

In his personal life, he is passionate about travel, both near and far. He also explores new ways of discovering the world so he can best convey its diversity to his children. In his free time, he enjoys reading and watching a good crime movie.
